Firmwide day of service supports local communities through hands-on volunteer efforts
LANSING, Mich.— On Thursday, Nov. 7, Maner Costerisan, a full-service public accounting and consulting firm, closed for a half-day to host its annual Maner Cares Day of Impact. Team members volunteered at 14 nonprofits dedicating their time to support local communities. This year’s event marks the seventh annual Day of Impact, a tradition that brings Maner Costerisan staff together to give back to the neighborhoods where they live, work, and play.
“Maner Cares Day of Impact has become a cornerstone of our firm’s culture,” said Sarah Jennings, principal at Maner Costerisan. “Seeing our team members come together to support these organizations highlights the values we share as a firm. Every project we tackle reinforces our dedication to making a meaningful difference in our communities.”
The event spanned three states including Michigan, Ohio, and Georgia, as remote employees volunteered where they live. A record number of team members fanned out to volunteer at twelve organizations in Michigan, including City of Lansing Parks and Recreation, Ele’s Place, End Violent Encounters (EVE), Greater Lansing Food Bank Garden Project, Haven House, Mid-Michigan Recovery Services Inc., SafeCenter, Origami Rehabilitation, Fleece & Thank You, Kids’ Food Basket, Treetops Collective, and Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan (JA).
Staff completed a range of projects based on each nonprofit’s needs, from fall clean-up and yard work to painting, organizing, blanket making, and teaching JA Our City financial literacy program to third grade students at Elmwood Elementary School in Lansing.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Maner Costerisan for their support,” said Susan Shilton, district director of Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan. “The students at Elmwood Elementary School absolutely loved the program and didn’t want the Maner volunteers to leave—they couldn’t stop hugging them. Thank you to Elmwood school administrators for caring so deeply about their students and welcoming us to make a difference together.”
Since the launch of Maner Cares Day of Impact in 2018, the firm’s employees have contributed more than 2,500 volunteer hours, supporting over 60 nonprofit organizations. The annual service day is scheduled for the first Thursday of each November, underscoring the firm’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
