LANSING, Mich. – The Lansing Lugnuts will honor bronze medalist TaylorManson, a Lansing native, during the Lugnuts’ 7:05 p.m. game Friday, August 13, against the Dayton Dragons at Jackson® Field™.
Manson, who won the bronze medal in the inaugural 4x400m mixed relay at the Tokyo Olympics, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game, with a special tribute honoring and welcoming her back during the game.
Taylor Manson was named the Lansing State Journal’s Girls Track Athlete of the Year in both 2016 and 2017. A year later, while at East Lansing High School, Manson won the 2017 MHSAA Division 1 State Championship in the 400m. She currently attends the University of Florida, where she has twice been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. In 2021, she was honored as USTFCCCA Outdoor First Team All-American in the 400m and the 4x400m as well as USTFCCCA Indoor First-Team All-American in the 4x400m.
With the first round held on July 30 and the final held on July 31 in the 4x400m mixed relay, Manson and teammates Bryce Deadmon, Kendall Ellis, Elija Godwin, Lynna Irby, Vernon Norwood, Trevor Stewart and Kaylin Whitney captured Team USA’s first track medal of the Summer Olympics.
