For this issue they speak with Scott Dzurka, president and CEO of the Michigan Association of United Ways. They discuss the United Ways’ availability to communities all over the state as well as the significance of the ALICE Report. Across Michigan, 40 percent of households struggle to afford the basic necessities of housing, child care, food, health care and transportation. These interviews reflect on how the ALICE Report more accurately reflects economic circumstances present in all communities, specifically in Michigan. They point out how it reflects and represents all economic walks of life. They go on to discuss the start of the ALICE Report and the hopes for its continual national advancement and expansion.
