At the National Coin & Bullion Association (NCBA) meeting on August 7, 2024 in Rosemont, Illinois, Liberty Coin Service’s Communications Officer Patrick A. Heller was honored twice. For his efforts in helping Wisconsin adopt a precious metals bullion and coin sales tax exemption this year he received the NCBA Diane Piret Memorial Outstanding Service Award. For his contributions toward Kentucky adopting a precious metals bullion, coin, and paper money sales tax exemption this year, Heller was bestowed with the Legislative Award.

Said LCS CEO and owner Tom Coulson, “Collaborating with collectors and dealers in both states, Pat contributed his expertise in demonstrating to state legislators and officials that such sales tax exemptions can generate a net increase in state tax collections. He has now helped Michigan and 21 other states enact or expand such legislation. For these services to the hobby and industry of numismatics, promoting public participation in forthcoming coin designs, and sharing his knowledge in our monthly Liberty’s Outlook newsletter, articles, and radio commentaries, he has now received more than twenty national awards plus several state and local honors.”

Heller has received national awards from the American Numismatic Association (including the 2012 Harry Forman National Coin Dealer of the Year Award), Florida United Numismatists, National Coin & Bullion Association, Professional Numismatists Guild (including the organization’s highest award in 2010, the Abe Kosoff Founders Award), and the Numismatic Literary Guild. He has also received multiple recognitions from the Michigan State Numismatic Society and Entrepreneurial Awards of Greater Lansing, and been nominated for awards of the Michigan Retailers Association.

The National Coin & Bullion Association was established in 1983 as a trade association for the numismatic and precious metals bullion communities. Heller previously served on the NCBA board of directors from 2002-2022 and as its treasurer from 2002-2019. He currently volunteers his expertise as the NCBA Industry Issues Advisor.

Frequently honored Liberty Coin Service, established in 1971, is Michigan’s largest rare coin and precious metals dealership. Liberty Coins, as it is known locally, has been located in Lansing’s Frandor Shopping Center since 1975.
