After Tax Limitation Proposal Fails

LANSING, MI – November 6, 2024 –— Following the defeat of the Eaton County Tax Limitation Alteration Proposal, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) urges Eaton County leaders to immediately prioritize the establishment of a financial health team to address the county’s budgetary challenges.

Tim Daman, president & CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, noted the need
for prudent financial planning in light of the election results:

“While the proposal did not pass, the underlying issues of fiscal responsibility and sustainable
management remain. Eaton County’s leaders must act swiftly to establish a financial health team to ensure that current and future resources are allocated effectively and transparently.”
Daman added that such a team would be invaluable in supporting Eaton County’s financial
planning and long-term resilience:

“A financial health team could guide Eaton County through economic challenges and help
safeguard essential services and resources for its residents and businesses. We believe this step is crucial for Eaton County’s economic future.”

The LRCC remains committed to supporting Eaton County in its pursuit of a sustainable
financial future and looks forward to working alongside local leaders to ensure the community’s
needs are met.
