Hosts The BLOCK:AID to Support Downtown Lansing Businesses
Lansing, MI -- Lansing 5:01, in collaboration with Downtown Lansing Inc., will transform Washington Square to host The BLOCK:AID on Thursday, June 10 to support Lansing's downtown district.
The event will close down three blocks and an alley on Washington Square, in the heart of the newly formed social district, with more than 70 street vendors, downtown small businesses, and pop-up shops hosted by Lansing-based artists, boutiques, and local businesses. The social district will allow attendees to sip on local brews and cocktails while listening to live music by more than 15 local bands and musicians, including a performance by the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. Food trucks and a free 100-ft inflatable obstacle course will round out the event.
Building on their efforts over the past several years to retain and attract talent, Lansing 5:01 hosts a series of events throughout the year to showcase the best of Lansing to Lansing’s future. The volunteer-based, non-profit organization partners with local employers and organizations to highlight the iconic sites and sounds of the Lansing region.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, Lansing 5:01 is thrilled to partner with Downtown Lansing Inc. to support some of our most-loved small businesses in Lansing,” said Christopher Sell, executive director and founder of Lansing 5:01. “This event will allow the community to support a number of businesses while experiencing all that Downtown Lansing has to offer.”
Downtown Lansing Inc., which aims to foster a vibrant downtown district, is eager to bring the community together to celebrate small businesses.
“Our businesses in Downtown Lansing have endured a number of challenges over the last year. BLOCK:AID will help us celebrate the small businesses, and bring attendees to experience Washington Square like never before,” said Cathleen Edgerly, Executive Director of Downtown Lansing Inc.
