In Partnership With

Internships and Experiential Learning

Association Impact
February 1, 2016 1:00 PM

AssociationsContinuing with the discussion on in internships, Cheryl Ronk talks with the intern coordinators at Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) and Northwood University, Denise Amburgey and Deborah Schummer. They review the elements of having a successful internship experience for both sides.

Internships have evolved in the past two years and the internship host has to be in compliance with the internship needs of experiential learning. They are not just “free labor.” The host has to be an extension of the classroom.

Learn ideas on how to assure that you are creating the appropriate environment for this experience and making it a career advancement opportunity. MSAE has found that having interns makes the whole office a learning environment.

Donna Oser, CAE hosts Association Impact, which looks into what some of Michigan’s top professional and industry groups are doing to make a positive impact for their members and for the state of Michigan. As part of MSAE, Association Impact works with all associations in Michigan.
