The Celebration of Regional Growth (CORG) Awards is a must-attend event that celebrates the investments that are reshaping and transforming our region. Over the past 18 years, CORG recipients have collectively contributed over $3 billion to economic development and business growth, resulting in the creation and retention of thousands of jobs.
Honorees being celebrated included:
Ø ATESTEO, for their substantial investment in its North American headquarters located in East Lansing.
Ø Michigan Community Capital, for the redevelopment of the Temple Building in Old Town.
Ø MSUFCU, for the commercial office development of their Downtown East Lansing branch.
Ø Neogen, for their $70 million expansion in the new food safety facility in Downtown Lansing.
Ø Shyft Group, for their $16 million expansion and facilities enhancements in support of commercial electric vehicle production.
Lansing, Mich. – Five organizations will be honored for their commitment to the Lansing region at the 18th annual Celebration of Regional Growth (CORG) Awards, taking place Tuesday, Nov. 7 at the Kellogg Center Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing. This year’s CORG honorees include ATESTEO North America, Michigan Community Capital, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, Neogen and The Shyft Group. All five organizations are recognized for investments that are making a transformational impact in the region.
The luncheon will take place as part of Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Lansing Economic Club speaker series. This year’s luncheon is sponsored by PNC Bank and Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, P.C. with Consumers Energy serving as the video sponsor.
“The investments made by this year’s CORG honorees are not only significant in how they are helping transform the region today, but also in how they position our region for the future,” said Tim Daman, president & CEO, LRCC. “The commitment of these organizations are also certain to help leverage additional investments and continued growth in Lansing.”
2023 CORG Award Honorees:
ATESTEO North America, a global provider of testing services for EV drivetrains and components, is establishing its North American headquarters in East Lansing. ATESTEO North America is a subsidiary of ATESTEO Group, a Germany-based testing services provider for automotive drivetrains. The company began serving the e-mobility industry in 2008 and provides testing services for hybrid and fully electrified auto drivetrains and components. ATESTEO North America was established in 2022 to better serve existing and future customers in the U.S. ATESTEO North America will install test benches to test drivetrain systems and components. This facility is the company’s first location in the U.S.
Michigan Community Capital (MCC) is being recognized for the redevelopment of the Temple Building in Lansing’s vibrant Old Town District. The Temple Lofts project represents a nearly $10M investment in a historic church which may be the site of the first church to be built in Lansing. MCC converted the two-story church into a five-story mixed use building featuring offices, retail space and 31 apartments offering a range of rents. It has nine offices, four of which are for-rent individually, and all residential units are full continuously. MCC intends to continue this work beyond Temple with a goal of adding an additional 100 units of housing within a 2-block distance from the Temple for a total of 130 new households added to the neighborhood in 10 years.
Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is being honored for the construction of its East Lansing branch and innovation office building. Located at 311 Abbot Road building continues a transformation of downtown East Lansing. The full-service branch features an integrated design that offers sit-down desks rather than a traditional teller line. The Abbot Road Building also has an exhibit space where local artwork and other projects can be featured, a demo space for The Lab at MSUFCU, leasable space, and a community room for health fairs, seminars, board meetings, and other events.
Neogen Corporation is being recognized for its latest hometown expansiong; a $70 million investmentintheir Lansing food safety facility, which is nearing completion in downtown Lansing. The expansion is centered around the construction of a three-story dedicated manufacturing building located on E. Shiawassee Street, adjacent to other Neogen facilities. The 175,000 sq.-ft. space represents the company’s investment in new manufacturing and laboratory equipment for the test and release of products. The expansion will create between 60 to100 new jobs, raising Neogen’s Lansing footprint from 650 employees to a maximum of 750.
The Shyft Group is was selectedfor its decision to invest in and expand the company’s facilities in Charlotte, MI.which will enable production of commercial electric vehicles for its Blue Arc™ EV Solutions brand, launched last year. Shyft will invest approximately $16 million for expansion and improvements in facilities as well as new equipment related to the production of EVs. With the expansion, upgrades to facilities, and installation of new equipment, Shyft will have the capacity to produce up to 3,000 EVs per year in Charlotte
The CORG Awards is an annual event presented by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, through the Lansing Economic Club. Tickets are $55 for Chamber members, $75 for non-members and $425 for a table of eight. Registration information can be found at lansingchamber.org.
