McCallum shares news & updates on the Grand Rapids 36hour film Challenge, of which he is this year’s host. The films will be viewed and chosen this week and Kelsaw is one of the judges. The winners and award ceremony will be held at Celebration Cinema North, in Grand Rapids, February 2, 2018
• McCallum, just returned from his inaugural trip to the internationally recognized, star studded Sundance Film Festival. The love of Park City, the adventures he was invited to and attended screenings of films that are going to blow our minds is shared and hinted at a release date on a major network.
This film “ The Sentence”, is a true story by a former Michigander and now New Yorker, Rudy Valdez. The story is powerful, emotional and so real it feels surreal.
• McCallum attended HBO’s VIP party while at Sundance, and he recounts his meeting the actor Craig Robinson, and how it was important to not ‘fan’ the celebrities in attendance at such an event. What is the 36hour Film Challenge?
It is a competition challenging contestants to script, shoot, edit, and submit a film in 36 hours. Participants take inspiration from the theme of transformation and additional thematic elements revealed at the January 26 launch reception from 7 to 8 p.m. hose selected by judging panel will be screened before a live audience on February 2.
