New medical spa services will be offered at the Okemos Douglas J Salon & MedSpa.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — As people look to post-pandemic self-care, the medispa movement provides them with a way to improve their appearance and boost their confidence. In response, Douglas J is launching the Douglas J MedSpa, offering guests new medical spa services at Douglas J’s flagship salon, Douglas J Salon and Spa in Okemos, Michigan. The addition will provide clients with medical grade esthetic procedures in a relaxing spa environment.

“We’re thrilled to be taking this step into the medical spa world,” said Scott Weaver, President of Douglas J Aveda Institute & Salons. “Our goal for these new medispa services is to continue Douglas J’s mission of rejuvenating and pampering the guest, with a newly added focus on skin restoration.”

The wide variety of medical spa services offered at the Douglas J MedSpa emphasize the value of revitalized skincare under the care and direction of a trained physician and team of estheticians. Available services range from facials and microneedling to botox and dermal fillers.

The Douglas J MedSpa is staffed with a team of highly trained estheticians and is led by Dr. Lena Weinman, DO, who serves as the facility’s medical director. As a Mid-Michigan area OBGYN and osteopathic physician, Weinman brings over 12 years of experience in women’s health to her role.

“In intentionally and meticulously exploring entering the medical spa space, we knew compassion, care and safety were essential to our guest experience,” Weaver noted. “In Dr. Lena, we’ve found a highly recognized and skilled physician who also cares deeply about ensuring all of our customers feel confident and revitalized during and after their time with us.”

Medical spas continue to act as a growing industry, with an estimated growth of 8% from 2017 to 2022, according to data from the American Med Spa Association. The same study reports an estimated total industry size of $3.97B as of 2017.
