Eileen Korte, Vice President of the Licensing Division for the United States office of the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), reviews the umbrella license an association can secure to cover the usage of all motion picture, television programs and other audiovisual scenes in educational presentations and during events.

In 1976, with the introduction of the video cassette we had access to reproduce video footage. These productions are copyrighted. As a result in 1986 an independent entity, MPLC, was formed to protect and make it easier to secure a license in the use of these scenes. Eileen Korte explains how associations can comply with the U.S. Copyright Act and with MSAE’s arrangement, can receive a 10% discount on the license.
