The District’s new middle school facility is designed to address needs of young adolescents

BRIGHTON, Mich. — The school year is off to a strong start for students enjoying their first year in the Charyl Stockwell Academy Middle School. Students were welcomed back to a brand new space for the middle school, now located at 1021 Karl Greimel Drive in Brighton near the CSA Preparatory High School campus. Middle school and high school students formerly shared the building located at 1032 Karl Greimel Drive in Brighton.

Now the students will have their own campuses just across the street from one another, with the formerly shared building dedicated to Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy High School and a transformed 14,000-square-foot space for the middle school. The CSA Middle School’s new collaborative learning facility features modern instructional space designed to incorporate all the CSA best practice methods for its innovative middle school education model, including team teaching and flexible grouping.

Charyl Stockwell Academy District hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house last month to celebrate the opening of the Charyl Stockwell Academy Middle School.

“The middle school team is so excited to have a beautiful new state-of-the-art building for our students to call their own,” said Dina Barnaby, principal of CSA Middle School. “The unique design of the building enables us to optimize our innovative approach to middle-level education as we work collectively to bring learning to life for our remarkable students.”

Charyl Stockwell Academy Middle School, along with the rest of the CSA District, began its school year Sept. 7.

“Our school year is off to a great start with our CSAMS Sentries volleyball, cross country, and soccer teams in full swing,” said Barnaby. “We had a great audition turnout for our combined middle school and high school production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. At CSAMS, we spent the first week getting to know each other and learning how to use our new, beautiful space. Relationships provide the foundation of our entire district and the first few weeks of school are the perfect time to make sure all students feel welcome and loved at school.”
