Capital Region International Airport Celebrates New Nonstop Service

Inaugural flight celebration is today Wednesday, October 26th, beginning at 4 p.m. from the Capital Region International Airport (LAN) Lansing, MI.

The event is taking place on the second floor of the main terminal building at LAN.

Capital Region International Airport executives, local dignitaries, business and civic leaders, and Avelo Airlines executives will celebrate the start of the new nonstop air service from Lansing to Orlando with numerous inaugural flight activities including the water salute, ribbon-cutting, and many other fun festivities.

“We are so pleased to officially kick off our new nonstop service from LAN to Orlando with Avelo Airlines with our inaugural flight on Wednesday, and to welcome the Avelo Airlines chairman and CEO Andrew Levy to our community to celebrate this occasion,” said Nicole Noll-Williams, president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Authority (CRAA). “The response from the community has already been tremendous, but now it’s important to keep that momentum going. Supporting local air travel and demonstrating to our airline partners that Lansing is a strong and vibrant market will create more travel opportunities for all of us.”

“This is not only an exciting day for LAN, but also for the entire mid-Michigan community,” said John Shaski, chairman of the CRAA board. “Having nonstop service from Lansing to Orlando provides additional options for mid-Michigan travelers, and having the ability to bring in new services demonstrates that LAN is vibrant market. We are so thrilled that Avelo Airlines chose LAN as part of its expanding networking and are looking forward to officially starting this new service.”

The Mayor of Lansing Andy Schor and CRAA President and CEO Nicole Noll-Williams will lead a delegation of local dignitaries and media traveling on the inaugural flight. The group will meet with Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mayor’s office and tour several tourist attractions.

“Lansing is proud to help launch Avelo Airlines new service with non-stop flights to and from Orlando. This starts an exciting new chapter and partnership for our airport and the City of Lansing. By providing affordable non-stop flights, people from all over the region now have access to incredible family vacations. Lansing continues to grow, and I am excited to see where Avelo Airlines is going to take us next,” said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor.

The new routes will operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 (147 seats) and 737-800 (189 seats) aircraft. Flight dates and times below:
