The third in a series of community forums to unpack the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing recommendations and prioritize what the Black community in the Lansing metropolitan region wants and needs to feel safe and protected.
The Lansing region is policed by multiple agencies who were invited to respond to a survey on the 21st Century Policing recommendations. A small group of community members prioritized the same recommendations. This forum compared community and police priorities for action to determine next steps in imagining a Lansing where all Black Lives Matter and young Black men are not over 70% of those arrested when they are less than 10% of the total population.
