The Michigan Creativity Group and the High School eSports League are proud to launch the “Make Michigan an eSports Pioneer” campaign. Given the increasing popularity of eSports (competitive video gaming) at the university level, there is a significant need for representation in K12 schools. Recently, Connecticut became the first state to officially sponsor eSports, helping to provide a STEM related activity along the lines of robotics to capture student interest. Following Connecticut’s lead, Michigan should grant recognition to eSports to enable students to represent their respective schools in an exciting new form of competition. There has been some interest on behalf of parties affiliated with the Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) to sponsor eSports. What is needed is additional support by stakeholders throughout the state to encourage the Executive Council of the MHSAA to turn rhetoric into reality.
We are calling on all interested parties to write a letter of support (see attached form letter) to the Executive Council of the MHSSA to sponsor eSports.

The Dewitt, MI, and Michigan Creativity groups were pleased to showcase a production of Stand and Deliver, last month. The play based on the 1988 award winning film still considered the "Rocky" of educational films. It tells the true story of a group of inner city students from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles who work to prove the skeptics wrong. It also features the relentless pursuit of their new teacher Jamie Escalante from Bolivia. His quirky sense of humor and odd teaching methods coupled with his determination to disrupt the status quo ends up saving students from becoming victims of a failed system and an ill-funded school where gangs, drugs, and dropouts are sadly the norm.
