The empowHER Leadership Retreat was created to provide fourth- through ninth-grade girls from all different backgrounds with the tools to find confidence, passion and purpose in their lives.

In these six segments hear from Suzy Merchant, Michigan State University Women’s Basketball Head Coach and empowHER founder who was inspired to create this event after a tragic loss of one of her recruits; Ann Crain, Board Operations Chair and Angela Michael, Mentor Co-Chair. 

This is the seventh year, and the retreat registration opens on April 21 for the June 25, 2022 in-person event, held at the Breslin Center of East Lansing, MI. With support and education in the interactive workshops, empowHER girls learn to embrace their strengths and differences, build their self-confidence and participate in service projects that demonstrate the importance of giving back to their community.

1 - In this segment, Julie and Kristine highlight what to expect at the event and how you can be involved!  Whether you’re a parent, registrants, volunteer, mentor, or sponsor - this is the event for you.

2 - In this segment Julie and Kristine discuss how being a sponsor can help to change a young girl’s life.  

3 - Calling all Mentors!  Are you a female ages 18-30? This is the segment for you!  Learn about the empowHER Leadership Retreat and how you can help mentor a young girl and make a difference in their life. Angela Michael, Mentor Co-Chair, discusses some exciting ways you can help.

4 - Angela Michael is back to discuss how you can make a difference by volunteering at this year’s empowHER Leadership Retreat on June 25, 2022.  Learn more about the event and how you can make a difference AND how others have made a difference in the lives of past participants.

5 - Listen in as Ann Crain, Operations and Content Chair, discusses what to expect for content for this year's event and how past events have inspired past participants.
