The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation made its largest investment yet in a $76 million equity round for CureVac, a company using mRNA as a template to make therapeutic vaccines for cancer and infectious diseases. This surge in funding and venture capital has doubled in 2014 for genomic tech companies. Genetic applications have created the need for processing, sharing and analyzing petabytes of data.
