Michigan Small Business Restart Program

Bay Future, Inc. along with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation are announcing that 150 Bay County small businesses and nonprofits are receiving over $1.1 million dollars through the Michigan Small Business Restart Program.
 
Funding is provided to eligible small businesses (50 employees or less) that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and need working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses or other similar expenses. At least 30% of the funds was required to be awarded to women-owned, minority-owned or veteran-owned eligible businesses.
 
In Bay County, 65% of the total funding for small businesses was awarded to women, minority, and veteran-owned small businesses who self selected in the following categories:
  • More than one category (women, minority, veteran-owned) = 7%
  • Women-owned businesses = 43%
  • Minority-owned businesses = 11%
  • Veteran-owned businesses = 5%

Tex-Mex Grille is a woman-owned family business in Downtown Bay City. Tex-Mex Grille has combined two traditional cooking styles and created “comida con sabor”, translated: “food with flavor”.

OMONI Boutique is a passion project, and dream, come to life for the owner. Born out of Jessica’s love for fashion, and as an homage to her mother after her passing, she created the boutique as a safe space for women to have fun and express themselves through fashion.
 
OMONI or 어머니, the Korean word for mother, focuses on honoring the beauty and strength of all women, and to push the boundaries of fashion little by little. Recently winning “Greatest of the Great Lakes Bay Region” award for Best Boutique, OMONI in Uptown Bay City strives to continue to uphold their values in quality of quantity and bringing elevated style and service.
