On the heels of the Virtual Bay Future Annual Report Meeting, our team has been overwhelmed by the support we have received from community members, our Board of Directors, partner institutions, and our Investors.


 
This support has reiterated that our Board of Directors and the team at Bay Future is taking the proper steps to address the needs of our Bay County economy. Two weeks ago, we publicly rolled out that plan, RECOVER Bay County, which you can read (and watch!) more about in the newsletter.
 
I’m proud and excited today to share with you our most recent efforts to support Bay County businesses, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Small Business Restart Grant Program. Thank you to those investors, partner organizations, and members of our Board of Directors who assisted us in this grant review process. With your support, we are able to allocate over $1 million to 150 Bay County Businesses! Women, minority and veteran owned small businesses were the primary focus of the grant program. We are honored to have been able to assist those business owners and we will continue to support them and others as we strive to do so each day. These activities are critical for our recovery and regrowth.
 
Thank you to our generous investors who make the work we do each and every day possible. Without your support, Bay Future would not have the resources we need to carry out our mission of facilitating economic development strategies that promote and secure opportunities for business retention, business growth, and the attraction of new industries that provide quality jobs for our community residents.

In the face of the challenges brought upon by the COVID19 Pandemic, BFI is compelled to act and address the issues on behalf of Bay County. What follows is an Addendum which will co-exist with BFI’s Strategic Action Plan, Bay Future: Drive. Forward. We will not consider our efforts complete until we have “recovered” and measure our effectiveness by returning to a pre-pandemic economy.

GLBR Business Advisory Council for Early Childhood
The Great Lakes Bay Early Childhood Business Advisory Council for Early Childhood works in unison with local businesses and human resources departments to identify employee challenges and offer solutions for building better work-life-family balances. The goal is to increase awareness among members of the regional business community, of the value and availability of high-quality early childhood programs and supports. This council also seeks to increase investment in high-quality learning opportunities for area families that do not qualify for other financial supports.
 
The purpose of this business advisory council is to highlight the tremendous opportunity for regional talent and economic development. This website business provides seamless avenues for companies to learn more about Great Start community development projects, talent retention partnerships related to attrition/turn-over and child care, other workforce, and human resource solutions, up-stream talent development, and more.
 
The advisory council is a consortium of regional Great Start Collaboratives, businesses, community leaders and philanthropic members which includes representation from education, nonprofit, business, government, and health industries and is sponsored by Consumers Energy and the Saginaw Community Foundation.
