One of the most critical components of attracting businesses and providing an opportunity for existing businesses within our community to grow is having property that is ripe for development. In economic development experience and practice, the adage “build it and they will come” consistently applies.
As announced at the 2022 Annual Meeting, Bay Future is launching a new site readiness program called Build Ready, Bay County (BRBC). The goal of BRBC is to “build it and they will come” by increasing the inventory of project-ready sites for industrial and commercial development across Bay County by turning greenfield and brownfield sites into tax-generating properties, which would provide additional employment opportunities for our families, friends, and neighbors.
We’re excited about this next initiative and are eager to collaborate with local units of government as well as our investors and partners in the construction, engineering, and environmental sectors in order to evaluate current assets and identify where investments into sites, infrastructure, or workforce will deliver the greatest impact- with the ultimate goal being to attract industry, investments, and individuals (jobs) to those sites.
I’m looking forward to sharing more on this initiative in the coming months and how it will assist us in our efforts toDrive Bay CountyForward!
