Two weeks ago, today, the Bay County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution to allocate $2 Million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to Bay Future, and our partners, to implement programs we believe will bring transformational and generational change to our community.
 
Our proposal included:
  • Small Business Grant Funding – $1,050,000
  • Small Business and Entrepreneurial Support – $368,500
  • Workforce Talent Attraction & Retention – $581,500

We are certain the impact these initiatives will have on our small businesses and the long-term opportunities they will provide to Bay County will be great and will be measurable.
 
Our team is actively working, in close collaboration, with our partners at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center to finalize details and begin implementation of these programs. On Dec. 20, 2021, the City of Bay City Commission authorized $300,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to be utilized to create a small business relief grant program to be administered by City of Bay City Economic Development staff, with assistance from the City of Bay City Fiscal Services Director, Bay Future, Inc., and the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. 
 
We are focused on working aggressively to get dollars back into the hands of our small businesses, the lifeblood of our community’s economy. And we will continue to work with municipalities throughout Bay County on ways to partner by utilizing ARPA funding to address the negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency.

SK Siltron CSS Wins Business Facilities’ 2021 Deal of the Year Automotive Category
 
 
Each year, Business Facilities selects award winners from applicants that have submitted projects with consequential economic impact, capital investment and job creation. Our team at Bay Future, Inc. nominated the SK Siltron CSS project in Bay County, MI, for the significant impact the company and industry will have on our local, state, and national economy.
 
In August of 2021, SK Siltron CSS announced a $302 Million expansion in Bay County that would create 150 jobs.
 
As a result of this nomination, Bay Future, Inc. captured Business Facilities 2021 Deal of the Year Award Automotive category winner: SK Siltron CSS project.
