Amidst growth, Barr Grand Rapids invests in an upgraded office location for hybrid employees 

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Barr Engineering Co. is rapidly growing its Michigan team and presence on the western side of the state. With Barr’s recent addition of 13 new team members within the past 18 months, the company had outgrown its previous Grand Rapids office in Kentwood.

The engineering and environmental consulting firm relocated the Grand Rapids office to a Cascade Township space that can accommodate additional staff, as well as offer upgraded office aesthetics and functionality to provide an improved experience for both employees and clients. 

The new office is designed with flexible work arrangements in mind. Many Barr employees are continuing to work in hybrid arrangements and will have a clean, inviting office space to work from when needed to collaborate with colleagues or clients.  

“The new office space prepares us to meet the needs of our clients and employees in the new flexible work environment well into the future.” said Chris Miron, vice president and senior chemical engineer at Barr. “Improved spaces for staff collaboration and state-of-the-art technology will allow us to efficiently complete work on our clients’ behalf and connect with colleagues and clients, regardless of location.” 

In addition to providing more space for teamwork, the office, which opened in late November, allows for safe in-person and hybrid working, making it easier to interact on projects and with clients. The conference rooms and smaller “teaming” rooms are equipped with video conferencing capabilities and are soundproofed to allow for online interactions without distracting colleagues in nearby workspaces. 

“Architecturally, the office is designed with a theme that reflects the Great Lakes and the outdoor experience in Michigan with lots of blue and wood tones,” Miron said. “We even named our conference rooms after Michigan rivers as they inspire the work we do every day.”
