Art of Joy
The arts really do make life better. They boost the economy, provide jobs, create community, and generally, just make people happier. Our artists, creative entrepreneurs, and arts and cultural organizations bring joy and beauty to our region. They provide plays and ballets, art classes, public art like murals, artistic bike racks and bus shelters, and so much more that makes our region diverse, creative and welcoming.
Strength in numbers
How we feel when experiencing art is of the utmost importance, but data matters too. According to Americans for the Arts Arts Action Fund, 73 percent of Americans said, “the arts provided meaning in their lives and were a positive experience in a troubled world.” Additionally, for-profit and non-profit arts and culture sectors represented $20.5 billion of our state’s economy and nearly 145 billion jobs. Nationally, it’s even more! These examples represent just a few of the facts that support the importance of believing in the power of the arts.
Make a difference
Your gift to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing helps build a strong, sustainable creative region, one that connects artists, arts organizations and communities, and fires the work they do — work that enriches the lives of our residents, nurtures the creativity of our children and excites the growth of our economy.
At the heart
Community funding of the arts, centers them as something of value in our region. That support makes Greater Lansing a place that celebrates public art and creative placemaking, advocates for arts education, provides stellar entertainment, initiates thought-provoking, arts-based conversations, addresses issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and encourages access to the arts for all!
Hope and gratitude
We hope you will give to the Arts Council this year. It’s that simple. We need your support, and the spirit and heart of arts and culture needs it too! Can we count on you? We hope so!
