Led by New America’s Open Technology Institute, 150 tech firms have petitioned President Obama and the government to stop requiring backdoors for law enforcement surveillance (and by inference, spying) on unencrypted data.
The latest versions of iOS and Android have encryption turned on by default, which has caused concern to the FBI and NSA as it makes investigations more difficult.
