(Detroit) – The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26 announced its endorsement of Independent candidate Mike Duggan for Governor today, marking his 18th labor endorsement.
“On behalf of ATU Local 26, we offer our full support and endorsement of Mike Duggan to be Michigan’s 50th governor. In Detroit, he fought tirelessly to advance Detroit’s best interest and he is a tried-and-true leader for Michigan,” said Schetrone Collier, president and business manager of Local 26.
The ATU is the oldest and largest transit and allied workers union in the United States. ATU was founded in 1893 and consists of drivers from the Detroit Department of Transportation, QLine drivers and mechanics and more.
“Each endorsement we earn is a signal to us that we’re on the right track. Thank you to Local 26 for putting your faith in me,” Duggan said. “Michigan’s workers need support from the top down, starting with the person working alongside them and ending with the highest office in the state. I promise to be the candidate you can count on.”
Duggan has now been endorsed by 19 labor unions and three regional chambers of commerce, growing his lead on his opponents with the most labor unions of any other candidate.
