Chris Holman talks with Tony Vernaci, Vice President, Global Business Development, MEDC, Lansing, MI. Tony is back in the office after attending the airshow in Farnborough, England to participate in the announcement of the aero-auto conference. The conference is to be held in Dearborn next May 2-4, 2016. The announcement received a very positive response from the media and business community.
Vernaci also was invited to attend a meeting with Liebherr Aerospace – Germany (Liebherr Aerospace has an operation in Saline, MI). The meeting was with the German Aerospace Industry Association to discuss challenges they are facing as aerospace OEM’s begin to put price pressure on suppliers. In addition, Tony has since been invited to participate in a roundtable meeting in Munich in September with 50 of Germany’s top aerospace companies to explain how the auto industry responded to these same challenges and survived the global crisis to once again become a manufacturing power today. It’s a great opportunity to showcase Michigan’s strength in manufacturing and the aerospace industry to the international community. It also demonstrates the strong crossover benefits between aerospace and automotive. Tony mentions, “there is no other place in the nation where they converge more than Michigan.”
