AAA: MICHIGAN GAS PRICES DROP TO A NEW 2025-LOW

The Michigan state average is down 17 cents from last week

DEARBORN, Mich., (date) – Gas prices in Michigan are down 17 cents from a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.92 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is a new 2025-low. This price is 16 cents less than this time last month and 37 cents less than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $43 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of about $14 from 2024’s highest price last July.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased from 8.51 million b/d to 8.91 million. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 220.7 million barrels to 219.1 million. Gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.8 million barrels per day.

At 420.3 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 4% below the five-year average for this time of year.

“Michigan drivers are catching a break at the pump, with gas prices dropping to the lowest point so far this year,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.

Ways to Save on Gasoline

  • Combine errands to limit driving time.
  • Shop around for the best gas prices in your community.
  • Consider paying cash. Some retailers charge extra per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
  • Remove excess weight in your vehicle.
  • Drive conservatively. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduces fuel economy.
