LANSING, MI — As absentee voting begins in the 2025 Lansing City Primary Election, a new  poll commissioned by the Lansing Regional Chamber-Political Action Committee (LRC-PAC)  reveals that voters overwhelmingly want city leaders to focus on fixing roads, expanding  affordable housing, and improving public safety.

The survey of 215 likely Lansing voters, conducted June 5–7, 2025, offers critical insights into  residents’ top concerns—and reinforces the platform of the LRC-PAC’s endorsed candidates.

Key Findings:

  • 92.5% of respondents say they are “very likely” to vote in the August Primary. When asked to identify the most important issue the City of Lansing should address: o Road and infrastructure maintenance – 26.7%

o Affordable housing – 23.0%

o Public safety and crime prevention – 18.9%

  • When asked to select issues needing the most immediate attention from city officials: o Improving road conditions – 57.6%

o Expanding affordable housing – 49.0%

o Investing in youth programs and education – 43.1%

o Enhancing public safety measures – 37.2%

“These results make it clear—Lansing voters want to see action,” said Steve Japinga, Senior  Vice President of Public Affairs at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. “They want  roads fixed, housing expanded, neighborhoods revitalized, and smart economic development that  supports local jobs. That’s the future our endorsed candidates are committed to delivering.”

2025 LRC-PAC Endorsed Candidates:

  • Mayor: Andy Schor
  • At-Large City Council (Vote for 4): Jeremy Garza, Clara Martinez, Aurelius Christian,  2nd Ward: Deyanira Nevárez Martínez
  • 4th Ward: Peter Spadafore

The LRC-PAC selected candidates who demonstrate a commitment to smart growth,  neighborhood investment, modernizing city services and permitting, and maintaining Lansing’s  economic momentum.

“Lansing has made important progress,” said Tim Daman, President & CEO of the Lansing  Regional Chamber of Commerce. “But to keep moving forward, we need steady, visionary and  collaborative leadership. That’s what these candidates represent—and that’s why we’re standing  behind them.”
