Students to present ideas to local business owners, will compete to win up to $1,000 in seed funding
HOLT, Mich. — Holt Public Schools will host its annual Shark Tank-style pitch competition that provides students an opportunity to pitch their business start-up idea for a chance to win up to $1,000.

The competition, called “5 Minutes Tops,” is scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the Holt Public Schools Administration Building Boardroom, 5780 W. Holt Rd.

Students will present their business ideas to local business owners for a chance to win cash prizes as well as assistance in starting their business. Students will have five minutes to convince the panel to buy into their ideas – the only requirement of the competition.

“We are excited to see the business ideas that our students present,” said Lucas Schrauben, director of secondary programs at Holt High School. “Fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among our young adults to pair with their strong academic foundation is a powerful combination. We appreciate being able to provide this opportunity for our students.”

The competition is open to all Holt Public Schools students. For more information about 5 Minutes Tops, visit the competition website.
