The Concours d’Elegance of American is a fine place to enjoy rare beauty. Many vehicles on display that upcoming weekend are a symbol of American automotive elegance.
In the slideshow below includes what Phillippe Barraud, wealthy paper mill heir of Lausanne, Switzerland decided in 1937 to build — the most ostentatious automobile he could imagine. Wanting to best the Delahaye roadsters he had encountered in Paris, he chose the imposing Cadillac V-16 chassis with a 154″ wheelbase as his starting point. His desire to oversee the construction of the car led him to local craftsman Willy Hartmann to construct his dream. The result is a 22 foot, two-passenger roadster, unequaled in scale and style.
