I’d like to utilize this opportunity to thank my colleague and friend, Ryan Tarrant, President & CEO of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, for his service to Bay County.
Last week Ryan shared he would be leaving his position at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce to pursue another opportunity (story here).
In his nearly 5 years at the Chamber, Ryan has been a fierce advocate for positive growth in Bay County and has stood behind businesses every step of the way throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am thankful for the projects and initiatives we have had the opportunity to partner on and I am confident that the foundation he has helped lay will continue to provide success in our community.

Local leaders ready themselves to put ARPA dollars to work in the Bay County region

Bay Future to use $2 million in ARPA funds to help business community
Bay Future, Inc. has been allocated $2 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to help small businesses that have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Grant Program to Bolster Relief for Michigan Businesses Impacted by the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency
The Afflicted Business Relief (ABR) grant program is a program by the State of Michigan to distribute up to $409 Million of its American Rescue Plan Act funds to be awarded through grants for those who have suffered financial hardship from Covid-19. The program will support “Afflicted Businesses” – as defined by Public Act 132 of 2021 – that have experienced financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The application will become available at 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday, March 1.
