Delores Crosby joins Colliers’ offices in Michigan
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Colliers West Michigan has hired Delores Crosby as its newest client services coordinator to serve the company’s commercial clientele, adding to the growing number of women who work at Colliers offices across Michigan.
Crosby has worked in the Colliers Encino office since May 2020. Originally from Muskegon, Crosby moved to California to support her son in his acting career, and returned to Michigan during COVID-19, transferring to Colliers West Michigan.
“I’ve been in the workforce for about 35 years, and Colliers is a great group,” Crosby said. “We work collaboratively and communicate across the board. I’m excited to be back in Michigan and remain at Colliers, a company that has supported me, recognized my skills, and allowed me the flexibility to do my job.”
In her role, Crosby will work on marketing and digital assets for all of Colliers’ real estate specialists in the industrial, office, retail and multi-family disciplines.
Crosby is one of many women who have chosen Colliers West Michigan — which includes the Grand Rapids, Lansing, Traverse City, and Holland offices — as a workplace. Comprised of nearly 50 percent women, Colliers West Michigan provides employees with opportunity, flexibility, and mentorship within the commercial real estate arena. In the United States, only 36.7 percent of commercial real estate professionals are women, according to a study by the CREW Network, which works to advance women within the industry.
“Recognizing that commercial real estate has historically been a male-dominated field, at Colliers West Michigan we take great care to recognize the talents of women and provide the same opportunities to all our employees across the board,” said Jon Potvin, managing director at Colliers West Michigan. “As a company, Colliers continues to make strides in our diversity and inclusion efforts in order to better reflect the communities we serve.”
During Women’s History Month, Colliers is proud to celebrate the women that are employed in all aspects of the company and the commercial real estate industry.
“Commercial real estate is largely still a male-dominated business. At the same time, we’re seeing more women join this industry who are accomplishing great things and inspiring positive changes,” said Nicole Wiseman, senior associate office advisor at Colliers Lansing.
Julie O’Brien, vice president of industrial brokerage at Colliers Lansing, has been in the commercial real estate industry for 12 years, nearly three of those at Colliers. She enjoys working in a relationship-driven business where she serves as a trusted advisor for her clients.
“The opportunities for woman in the industry are immense for those willing to work hard, expand their knowledge base, and embrace new challenges each day,” O’Brien said.
There are numerous advancement opportunities for women in commercial real estate, said Erin Anderson, operations coordinator at Colliers West Michigan. Anderson has been with Colliers for more than four years and has advanced within the company, having her skills, loyalty and commitment recognized.
“I am continuously supported by this company,” Anderson said. “Commercial real estate is a difficult business to get started in however, the support of Collier’s programs, as well as women mentoring other women, has made a major difference.”
Working in commercial real estate for Colliers provides an exciting day-to-day work environment, with a broad range of client needs and challenges, said Amy Richter-Perkins, associate vice president retail advisor with Colliers Lansing.
“I’ve seen tremendous growth in women working in the retail industry over the last two decades,” Richter-Perkins said. “With so many areas of focus within the industry, the opportunities for women at Colliers are endless.”
