Last week, we joined in the excitement of celebrating a ribbon cutting at SK Siltron CSS. Our team had the honor to work with leaders from the SK team, State of Michigan, MEDC, Bay County, and Monitor Township, among others, to help make this project, a reality. Not just any project, however, the single most significant project, by investment total, in modern history, within our community.
$300 Million and 150 new high-wage, high-tech jobs are impressive on paper, but even more impressive, even more impactful, is when you see that investment, up close and personal,
with your own eyes.
The impact of this project has already had a measurable, sizeable, and powerful ripple effect throughout our state, country, and beyond. And it will continue to as wafers are made, packaged, and shipped from Bay County, Michigan.
I could share the economic factors and figures that will contribute to the direct, indirect, and induced impact this project will have on our community. But beyond the ratios and the multipliers is the significant and generational impact it will have on our neighbors, our friends, and our family members who now have the opportunity to find new high-tech careers here, locally, that are sure to enhance their quality of life and have lasting, positive impacts, on their lives and the lives of their children.
SK Siltron CSS is a world-class, high-tech company that could have chosen to make this investment, quite literally, anywhere in the world. We are appreciative that they decided to choose to invest in Bay County and in the State of Michigan and are thankful to all of those partners, who assisted in making this project, a reality.
