Michigan has been awarded over $7 million through the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) grants that were created as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). These funds will be spread across four projects aimed at improving transportation safety, efficiency, and international commerce.

California-based indie Semiconductor is establishing a new design and testing facility in Auburn Hills, creating 180 new high-wage jobs in Michigan. This project represents the first semiconductor firm to create or expand a design team in the state and contributes to MEDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Michigan’s leadership in mobility and vehicle electrification.

One of the most accessible e-recreational vehicles to the broadest population is the e-bike. Tom Adamich recently spoke with Matt Penniman, communications director for the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB). Penniman shared a number of valuable LMB and state of Michigan e-bike-related resources and provided an update on efforts by the state of Michigan to sponsor and enact an e-bike rebate program to promote affordable e-bike purchasing and target potential low-income customers who can’t afford an EV but can afford an e-bike.
