Jeffrey speaks with Dr. Erica Austin, D.O., Neurologist at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Human Medicine, Department of Neurology & Ophthalmology, East Lansing, Michigan about Epilepsy Awareness.
Dr. Austin speaks to the topic of epilepsy as a whole, sharing not only a definition of epilepsy, but looking at the prevalence and impact of epilepsy in our community. She reviews the available services in our community via MSU neurologist, Sparrow EMU. Then Dr. Austin notes that coming up Thursday Jan. 21st, will be an epilepsy forum, sharing some details, including participation by Dr. Birbeck. A March forum’s planning is also underway. The discussion then covers Purple Day; The epilepsy awareness fundraiser. Sparrow and MSU are also going to be looking for business sponsors for the Summer Stroll for Epilepsy that raises money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
