Chris talks with Dr. Charles Ballard, professor at Michigan State University, Department of Economics. They discussed the 2016 economy here in Michigan. Dr. Ballard is cautiously optimistic, highlighting the Chinese economic slowdown, as well as the low price of oil, which is good in a lot of ways, but does affect the stock market.
Charles feels that Michigan is poised to continue the seven year recovery after the great recession. However, this could change if something blows up in the Middle East.
Chris and Dr. Ballard discussed the auto industry here in Michigan, as well, which seems to be very strong right now, with gas prices low and the cost of borrowing cheap. There are also a lot of people with older vehicles that will be in the market for a new vehicle before too long!
