Past due: Confronting the affordable water crisis PSC’s utility cliff series has analyzed problems – and provided insight – about what it means to have affordable energy and water for Michigan households. In part one, we illustrated how energy affordability is supported by assistance programs that maintain an ineffective system. In part two, we raised questions about access to clean, safe water and the noticeable lack of similar assistance programs for that utility.
In part three, we address the growing demand for a solution to the escalating affordable water crisis, examining the complex challenges around this issue in our state. We even take a firsthand look at what it’s like to be nearing the cliff’s edge from a Michigan resident who has experienced the devastating effects of having her water turned off.
