Arts Council Greater Lansing: Save the ARTS! Please Sign This Simple Petition Today!

MBN: ACGL

Dear Arts and Culture Community,

You have been hearing from me a lot lately. Unfortunately, we are experiencing trying times for arts and culture — so we’re calling for all hands on deck! Funding for our sector is being threatened at every turn, and we need everyone to help us fight to keep us thriving.

This is a simple ask that is going out to everyone who appreciates, engages in, or has a career or business in the arts. Please read the message below from Grantmakers in the Arts and sign the petition. There are only two fields to fill in: name and state, and then you just hit submit. Let Congress know that the arts are important at every level!

Much appreciation,

Meghan Martin

Arts Council Executive Director

Maintain and Protect Funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts

Dear Colleagues,

Grantmakers in the Arts is sharing a time-sensitive request to sign this petition urging Congress to maintain FY 2026 funding levels for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in FY 2027. It also calls for clear appropriations of language, ensuring funds are used as intended according to statute and not redirected elsewhere.

The petition closes Sunday, May 17, as appropriators are currently drafting spending bills. The President’s FY 2027 budget once again proposes eliminating both agencies, and ongoing threats continue to create uncertainty across the arts and humanities sector.

GIA is asking you for your support as individuals – not on behalf of organizations for which you work or may be affiliated with. We will share collected responses with Congress and the press to communicate the concerns of communities across the nation. Please take one minute to show your support, and we encourage you to share widely with colleagues and partners.

Thank you,

Grantmakers in the Arts
