(Detroit) – The Sprinkler Fitters Local 704 announced today that they are honored to endorse Mike Duggan to be the next governor of Michigan.

“Mike’s leadership as mayor of Detroit was instrumental in the restoration of the city as an economic cornerstone of southeast Michigan. During the revitalization of Detroit, his respect for strong apprenticeship standards and safe workplaces made it clear that you value the men and women of the skilled trades,” said Joe Troutt, business manager of Local 704.

Sprinkler Fitters Local 704 specializes in fire protection services, all the way from the underground water main to the overhead sprinkler system. Their services involve the installation, inspection, service and repair of the systems.

“The Local 704 has a history of getting results for its members, and to have their endorsement in this race means that their leadership that has stood the test of time sees this campaign as the choice Michigan needs,” Duggan said. “I’m proud to be the candidate trusted by so many labor unions, and I’m committed to showing I’m the right guy for the job.”

Local 704 represents members skilled in various sprinkler systems that are also up-to-date on the latest National Fire Protection Association codes, safety training, inspection and maintenance of the systems.

“As he pursues the office of governor of our great state, we are confident that he will continue to champion the values that matter to working families: good wages, fair labor standards, responsible economic development, and the protection of high-quality training programs that ensure our workforce will remain the best in the country,” Troutt said.

Duggan has earned endorsement from more than 20 labor unions, three of Michigan’s largest chambers of commerce, and hundreds of endorsements from elected officials, clergy members and other leaders across the state of Michigan.
