GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Get ready to step into a garden of wonders full of fascinating science. Backyard Adventures will be at the Grand Rapids Public Museum from January 24, 2026, through September 6, 2026, inviting visitors to look at the yards and playgrounds they see every day through a new lens.

MBN: backyard adventuresBackyard Adventures, created by Scitech in Perth, Australia, and produced by Imagine in Atlanta, GA, emphasizes the importance of getting active by showing visitors how much fun awaits just outside their doors. Visitors can discover a yard from the perspective of a bee, take a walk through a digital garden, watch plants grow at rapid speed, and investigate creatures that only come out at night.

The exhibition features interactive displays that engage visitors with science and technology and enable them to continue discovering the wonders of their own yards after they leave. Explore displays like Night Vision, Bee’s Eye View, Giant Pumpkin Bonanza, Giant Skipping Rope, Backyard Sports, Garden Golf, and Augmented Reality Garden Bed.

“Exhibits like Backyard Adventures that engage students’ bodies and minds support deep learning while also being fun,” said Kellie Rosekrans, Director of Marketing. “We hope that visitors leave this exhibit excited to get back outside again in the Spring to explore their yards or local parks and see science in action.”

Tom Zaller, President and CEO of Imagine, shared, “Imagine is proud to partner with Scitech to bring Backyard Adventures to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. This particular exhibition is powerful in its ability to bring the joy and thrill of science home for visitors of all ages. We hope that Backyard Adventures inspires people to get curious, make discoveries, and explore the wonders that exist in their own backyards.”

In the exhibition, visitors will learn and experience that the backyard is full of science from the biological interactions between plants and insects, the zoology of nocturnal animals, the horticultural know-how that goes into growing giant vegetables, the mathematical genius needed to lay pavers, and the feats of construction that can go on in the shed.
