Earlier this year the Department of Labor announced regulations which nearly doubled the salary threshold neccessary to exempt employees from overtime requirements. The regulations are scheduled to go into effect on December 1, 2016.
Employers need to understand about the regulations and prepare to potentially reclassify employees to avoid penalties. It is estimated that 4.2. million workers will become eligible for overtime as a result of the new regulations.
