06-04-2015: Rise & Shine Celebrating Regional Entrepreneurship

EventsEntrepreneur Institute of Mid-Michigan
Thursday, June 4, 2015 7:15 – 9:15 a.m.

The Board of Directors of the Entrepreneur Institute of Mid-Michigan (EIM) invites you to the 4th annual Rise & Shine Breakfast, Celebrating Mid-Michigan’s Entrepreneurs and those who support entrepreneurship. The breakfast will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 7:15 – 9:15 a.m., at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. This event is a great networking opportunity for entrepreneurs.

We are excited to have Gerald L. Moore, Michigan District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, give the opening remarks once again. Our Featured Speaker for the morning will be Bob Fish, Managing Partner of Biggby® Coffee. Awards will be given for “Micro Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Volunteer of the Year.”

The Entrepreneur Institute provides business plan training, education, and micro-lending for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. The first business plan training session was held in 1996, and the first loan was approved in 1997. Since that time, the Institute has conducted over fifty 15-week training sessions, and lent out over $340,000 to 50+ entrepreneurs, averaging $6800 per loan.

The impact and reach of the EIM’s efforts can be felt far and wide. Its work has resulted in the creation and retention of over 100 jobs, and more than 500 students have enrolled in the Foundations of Business Planning class. Of those, 82% have completed the program. Without proper planning, a business is like a ship without a compass. The EIM equips ambitious entrepreneurs with the tools to navigate the rough seas they are sure to encounter.
