Michigan Israeli Business Bridge - Trendlines Spring Road Show
MIBB, the Michigan Israeli Business Bridge hosted a networking breakfast in Troy, Michigan hosting U.S. and Israeli companies and officials. Several 5-minute company presentations and pre-arranged one-on-one meetings took place. This program showcased Steve Rhodes of The Trendlines Group, Israel's leading investor in early stage startups focusing on medtech and agritech innovation. Also, 5 Start-Ups from the Agri-Tech Sector.

Governor's Education Summit
Following up the Governor's Economic Summit the education and business community joined Governor Rick Snyder on the topic of education. Other Keynote speakers: Mike Flanagan, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Paul Galbenski, Teacher of the Year 2012 were on hand in East Lansing. In addition, great breakout sessions, included Early Childhood, K-12 Education, Community Colleges, Universities, Business and Economic Development Agencies to support the development of talent, encourage partnerships and develop long range vision for regional growth.

ASK 20th Anniversary Open House
MichiganBusinessNetwork.com was on hand to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ASK. They had a ribbon cutting for the new office expansion at their facility out southeastern Lansing, MI. After the ribbon cutting, the business community gathered and learned more about the services offered by ASK.

 ASK President Michael Maddox, and his co-host Matt Kolberg's "Bottom Line I.T." recently migrated from a weekend show to now also broadcast on Tuesday's at Noon, 5 and 10PM.

Northwood University Grand Opening - Troy, MI, Program Center
Northwood University opened their Troy Campus. This new campus has a premier location with more space, new technologies and programs will undoubtedly attract more students.

2013 Legislative Dinner
 Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to partner with local and regional Chambers across Michigan to present the 2013 Chambers of Commerce of Michigan Legislative Dinner. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder came in from the two day Annual Economic Summit in Detroit to provide the keynote address "The State of Michigan Business". The Lansing Regional Chamber, in conjunction with Chambers across Michigan, presented Go. Snyder with the first-ever "Moving Michigan Forward" award. Immediately following the Governor's remarks, the Chamber moderated a question-and-answer session with the audience.

2013 Governor's Economic Summit
MichiganBusinessNetwork.com hit the road again traveling to the Cobo Center of Detroit covering this intensive day devoted to creative solutions for Michigan's needs in talent and to create opportunities in collaboration. This event included leaders from business, education, and development. Twenty aspiring young adults from the ten geographic regions of Michigan were on hand sharing why they've decided to stay and make a future in Michigan. Participants actively engaged in conversations about the future of the economy and business in the state.

Business Leadership Summit: Building A New Michigan
Nearly 450 business and policy leaders from across Michigan met to discuss key assets for growing a New Michigan economy, and assessed the state’s progress toward economic prosperity. Top leaders shared industry insights and recommended key strategies focused around six key areas of economic opportunity that Michigan boasts. Business Leaders for Michigan (BLM), which hosted the summit, unveiled baseline information on its New Michigan strategy.

Sessions at the Lansing Radisson included New Michigan Update, Building a New Michigan Progress Report, and a Luncheon discussion. In New Michigan Updates, about how Michigan can use its existing natural resources, manufacturing, engineering talent, the importance of higher education and how to utilize the science fields. The New Michigan Progress Report section covered the growing fields in Michigan and where Michigan ranks today.

Grand Opening of an in-school PNC Bank, Staffed by Students!
PNC, a MichiganBusinessNetwork.com partner, celebrated the grand opening of an in-school bank staffed by students at Learn, Live and Lead Entrepreneurial Academy in Lansing. The school bank now opens twice a month during the school year. A total of five students run the branch during lunch periods, opening bank accounts and taking deposits from fellow students. School staff deliver the deposits to a participating PNC branch, where they are deposited into the students’ accounts. The PNC School Bank Program encourages elementary and middle-school students to take an interest in saving and banking. PNC will provide free minor savings accounts for each participating student. This is the third PNC in-school bank in Michigan. The others are located at Alger Middle School in Grand Rapids and Roosevelt-McGrath Elementary in Wayne. In 2011, PNC launched a financial education component of its signature early childhood education program, PNC Grow Up Great, called For Me, For You, For Later! This program includes financial education kits designed to equip educators, parents and caregivers with the tools to help young children understand basic financial concepts. Live, Learn, Lead Entrepreneurial Academy Founder Paula Cunningham hosted this ribbon cutting day also attended by Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Tim Daman.

2013 Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards
 The 2013 Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards were held on March 7, 2013 at Eagle Eye Golf Club, Bath, MI, just northeast of Lansing. The celebration of "Risk becoming Reward" was the theme of this annual event. This event recognize those individuals and businesses that have impacted the business landscape of the Greater Lansing area. A full run-down of winners can be found in the May 2013 issue of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly magazine.

 Another big story emerging from that evening was that after 26 years as CEO and Publisher of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly, MichiganBusinessNetwork.com's CEO Chris Holman was selling the magazine to M3 Group President and CEO and past Entrepreneurial Award winner Tiffany Dowling.

101st Annual Dinner of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce
A V.I.P. reception at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center of East Lansing, kicked off this event, followed by a reception. Over 800+ attendees, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner is the premier business celebration and networking event in the Mid-Michigan region. This program honors the outgoing Chair and Board members, included remarks from the Chamber’s incoming Board Chair and the presentation of the Community Service, Outstanding Small Business and Legacy Awards. They also honor the previous year’s 10 Over the Next Ten, Celebration of Regional Growth, ATHENA and ATHENA Powerlink recipients.

Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) president and CEO Tim Daman, is on stage with the Outstanding Small Business Award Winner, Van Martin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CBRE Martin, and emcee for the night Jason Colthorp, WILX News Anchor.

2013 Detroit Policy Conference
The Detroit Regional Chamber for the 2013 Detroit Policy Conference, Thursday February 28th was a day dedicated to Detroit’s continued comeback. The 2013 Conference showcased Detroit’s continued transformation by inviting public and private sector leaders to share their expertise and inspire innovative solutions that encourage urban revitalization. This year’s Conference built on last year’s event, highlighting key issues for Detroit and opportunities for urban and suburban businesses. Government, business and community leaders not only were presented to, but got engaged in the conference. The 2013 Conference follows the huge success of the inaugural event last April, which hosted over 400 dynamic entrepreneurs, small business owners, major corporations and civic partners, approximately 800 attended in 2013.

2013 Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau Annual Meeting
Keynote speaker Bill Geist discussed "Consumer Trends & Social Networking." Bill suggested ways to capitalize on changes in lifestyle to increase sales, appreciation, buzz, and brand awareness through all forms of media. The Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau also reviewed highlights from 2012 and goals for 2013.

MSAE Legislative & Public Policy Conference 2013
An insightful and engaging Legislative and Public Policy Conference came to Lansing, MI, February 20th. In light of the election, questions still abound regarding the prudent course to address jobs, economic growth, tax policy and term limits. Answers were sought after through presentations and discussions with the speakers participating in this Legislative and Public Policy Conference. They included Michigan House of Representative Speaker Jase Bolger, Michigan House of Representative Minority Leader Tim Greimel, Michigan Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville and Michigan Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer. Other sessions dealt with calls for impact and reform surround Michigan’s ballot process and the Affordable Care Act. The speakers and panelists provided a perspective for attendees to form perspective and ideas for going ahead in 2013.

Following the 2012 Michigan Economic Forecast Series which found the network all around Michigan, the network has been out and about for several events. The Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship 2013 took us to Livonia for the ACE Awards and Elevator Pitch competition. Entrepreneurs Engage "unConference" was hosted by U-M Tech Transfer and Michigan Venture Capital Association in Ann Arbor. AlpenFrost took us north to Gaylord and TreeTops Resort. The Annual Entrepreneur Week Conference by Vanguard Community Development Corporation took us to Detroit.  Picutred above is Gerald Moore,District Director for Michigan, of U.S.S.B.A. with MichiganBusinessNetwork.com CEO Chris Holman, following Moore's keynote address to the conference, and an interview on "Michigan Business Beat." WARY SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS TO DELAY HIRING
• Three out of four to hold off hiring during next six months • Cautious optimism revealed in aftermath of U.S. government actions • PNC forecasts moderate growth will persist in 2013 PITTSBURGH, April 4, 2013 - U.S. small and mid-sized business owners plan to delay hiring new employees or seek new loans amid cautious optimism about the economy, according to the latest findings of the PNC Economic Outlook survey. The spring findings of PNC’s biannual survey, which began in 2003, reveals about one in four are highly optimistic about their own company’s prospects during the next six months, up from 23% last fall. Nearly half expect sales to increase during the next six months - on par with the previous 46%. Their outlook has brightened about the U.S. economy during the next six months as 58% are optimistic and 41% are pessimistic in a turnaround from fall’s 42% and 57%, respectively. Regarding their local economies, 71% are optimistic and 28% are pessimistic - improved from 59% and 39% last fall.
